Is this for me?

UnionBook is your website - if you are a trade union member, or a supporter of the trade union movement.

In other words, even if you're not currently a union member -- let's say you're working in an unorganized workplace, or you're retired, or you're a student engaged in pro-union campaigning -- you're welcome here.

But the site is specifically designed to serve the needs of organized workers around the world, and we encourage them -- the vast majority of whom do not have accounts on other social networks -- to sign up here.

If you are already signed up to another social network, we are not at all suggesting that you abandon it for UnionBook.  To the contrary, we encourage trade unionists to use social networks as an organizing tool.

Greetings Eric and all the brothers and sisters around the world.

I have avoided Facebook and MySpace like the plague - finally a site that has some intrinsic use; if you want firends - call them, pop round, drop them a line, I say, otherwise they're not friends.  But union issues do need such a platform, and I will get this passed on to the members of my union asap in order to help build this site - we are very much an international oriented union - at present mostly non-Japanese in  Japan.  I think this may also help wih some of our discussion groups, by opening it to a wider audience. Good luck with it and I'm happy to be a new member.

Can I actually reply on this? I'm afraid I'm finding this site to be very un user friendly. There is no assistance or help or contact us feature apart from some reference to widgets, which not being a techy person I have no idea what it means. I've joined a few groups and don't know how to post on the messagebaord as it only let's me reply to a post directly on someone's individaul message board rather than the general one.

I do go on facebook and other messageboard forums and have never had so much difficulty posting or understanding how to navigate a system.
